Very Satisfied - 5 out of 5Review:'Waste King Dishwashers'As an ex-employee truck driver of Waste King Universal based inVernon, Calif. In the 1970's, I can tell you Waste King did in factmake most kitchen appliances, including dishwashers, ovens, cooktops, and disposals. Waste King was a part of Norris Industries when I workedfor them and was sold to Anaheim Appliances after I had left thecompany. At the time, Waste King was a good company to work for. Very Satisfied - 5 out of 5Review:'1965 Waste King Dishwasher'We had a Waste King dishwasher around 1970 it had 3 cycles each with adesignated push bar like button inter grated into the alum chromeplated panel designed by a famous industrial designer Donald Desky. Thecontrol panel itself was a work of art boasting a 2 inch squareilluminated lucite badge with the universal logo.

The cycles were rinsehold normal and pots and pans. Pots and pans activated a seperate minitimer that delayed the wash by an hour but never worked consistently. Alarge decorative dial showing the cycles started the machine by pullingit out. The interior was not stainless but the double was arm tower wasstainless rotating in opposite directions. The lower rack was uniquebecause it lowered down into the machine when you closed the door.
Thefinal rinse had a sensor and heavy calrod set in a deep well around thepump tower. Eventually the timer stopped momentarily to boost the waterentering the machine if below 150 degrees for the final rinse only. Thepowerful pump and wash arms reached every inch Of the machine thatloading china could be so dense and random that every piece came outsparkling every time. During the final hi temp rinse you could hear thepressure of the water sanitizing everything. It was the coolest lookingand operating machine we had in our galley like kitchen in suburbanlong island.Date created: 2014-03-12 Name: KimmyModel/Style: StainlessSatisfaction Rating. A true testament to 'they don't make them like theyused to'.
I yearn for a day when companies revert back to reputationbeing their driving force instead of profit. Unfortunately the wirebottom drawer has prongs that have rusted off but I am contemplatinghaving them welded or retro fitting a newer drawer to it. I havesearched the internet for replacement to no avail.Date created: 2014-01-30 Name: richard kasperLocation: atlanta, ga.Model/Style: DishwashersSatisfaction Rating.
Make sure the drain plug on the garbage disposal is removed. That’s the short answer. The longer story follows.I’m an idiot and didn’t think there would be a plug there. Guess what happened the first time the dishwasher ran after the new garbage disposal was in place? The dishwasher was full of water after it ran.
I scratched my head, puzzled. I knew it had something to do with my 1 handy work. After doing a quick web search I was reminded that the garbage disposal has a plug where the dishwasher drain hose connects. I thought there would be a simple plug there you could pull out or unscrew. Turns out on the model I purchased (a, sounds impressive, no?) I have to punch the plug, which means it goes inside the disposal and is impossible to reach without dismounting the garbage disposal from the sink.
I have to clear out underneath the sink again, unplug from the outlet, unhook the drain pipe, and dismount the garbage disposal? Straight from:When knockout plug falls into disposer, you may remove it or simply grind it up when the disposer is used.Jackpot. As later in the same guide it provides these pearls of wisdom:Your disposer is ruggedly built to give you many years of trouble free service. It will handle all normal food wastes, but it will NOT grind or dispose of such items as plastic, tin cans, bottle caps, glass, china, leather, cloth, rubber, string, clam and oyster shells, aluminum foil or feathers.I rationalized there is only one way to see if this beast lives up to its brand name.
I knocked the plug into the garbage disposal and ground it up. I then turned the dishwasher back on and the water disappeared within a minute. Problem solved.1 I can’t take all the credit. Many thanks to a man known as for helping me make magic happen – almost.
